"Don't let the fat chick beat you"?

I have been racing for about 5 years now. I am not a typical runner or even triathlete. I fight with serious medical conditions every step of the way, but each step makes me stronger. I have two boys both with special needs and I have learned to chalk that up to making me stronger as well.

It is with sad heart that I must report that lupus has won the battle this year, but trust me when I say the war is far from over! My racing days are not over by any stretch of the imagination. This is just a minor setback that will make me stronger.

30 Days Hath September, APRIL, June and November

You would figure with the number of times I write about 30-day challenges something would change. I am happy to report for the most part when I go to Starbucks I only get a tall iced latter; every once in a while I will get a venti, but that is so infrequently I am very proud of it. I am still doing pretty well with no TV after 10:30, once in a while I get a nice case of insomnia and all bets are off. So here we are, April Fool’s Day, there are 30 days in this month so I am hitting the 30 day challenge, yet again! I know, why don’t I just give up. Well, I refuse to just give up!

A few things about this blog have changed. First and foremost, the weight tracker. It is a little disconcerting seeing how much weight I have lost vs. the total amount I am shooting for. So, it now reflects my short term goal (I shoot for 10% of the total amount at a time). At the bottom I also have added my countdown to my two “A” races this year. I have my half ironman in September and the Denver Marathon in October. The half ironman is not so much an “A” race more like a test to see how I am improving.

In March I had 68.5 miles on the books but only completed 52.23 (yuck!). That is definitely something that needs to be worked on! That barely over 75% of the miles I should have completed. I have a 4 mile run on the books for today that got moved to tomorrow (Monday was a little rough so everything got bumped back a day) with that miles included I would have been over 80%.

April has no races scheduled! Nada! Nothing! So this will be a good quiet time to continue training.

* Attend Weight Watchers meeting every week (even bad weeks)

* Complete all BRC FIT training sessions each week (doesn’t have to be on the exact days)

* Water – 75 oz every day (this includes weekends)

HEY! Where did March go?

Here we are, yet again, the day after Weight Watchers. Once again I have managed to put on weight! Ok, it was a whole .2 pounds, but that is still a weight increase! The sad thing is, I had an amazing workout before going for my weigh in! Oh well, there is always next week.

Tonight I am excited because I am headed to the movies, yes, in the middle of the week! I will be watching My Run tonight. Looks like it will be very interesting!

Here is to the last day of March! Oh! And happy birthday to my dad!

Finals week caught up!

Yesterday after work I drove up to the Y to get a nice swim in. I get to the parking lot and it is packed! Spring Break, duh! I refuse to fight with kids in order to swim my laps. So I went home, changed and walked to my Weight Watchers meeting. I stopped by the gas station next door and got a bottle of water and then went for my weigh in. I am sad to report that finals week finally caught up with a 2 pound gain. But it happens and it is time to move on! After the meeting I walked home, well had to run some sections because I needed to be somewhere before 7 pm and the meeting ended at 6:30. Luckily I was able to text my sister and by the time I ran up to the house I was jumping in my car and taking off, everyone was where they needed to be buckled and ready to go. I pulled into the parking lot of Bicycle Village at 6:55!!!!! Talk about timing J

Colorado Springs Bicycle Village had their huge tent sale a few weeks ago and of course I went, I needed a few things (and wanted other things). The two things I needed were shoes and a helmet (see, they are needs). I went into the store a few days prior to the sale so I would know exactly what I wanted in the way of shoes. I have big wide feet; I know that, I understand that, I accept that. So I picked out a men’s pair of shoes, found the perfect size, I was good to go! The day of the sale they didn’t have my perfect size so I got the next size down, they fit, but after an 11 mile ride I knew I really wanted the next size up (they weren’t hurting, but I knew after about 70 miles my feet would not be happy). So Monday morning I called them up and told them what I wanted and mention my bike rack (Saris Bones 3-Bike) lost one of its feet. I was told the shoes have been ordered and to bring the rack in. So I really wanted to get in yesterday (I received the call telling me the shoes were in). I got my shoes, they moved my clips from the smaller pair to the larger pair, and they gave me a new foot for my bike rack (my back window will greatly appreciate that one!). A little back ground on Bicycle Village. I have been shopping there since 2007. They have a maintenance class but I was up able to make it prior to my first triathlon, so they told me to come on in and gave me a one-on-one lesson on how to change my tire and the basics. I take my bike in every year for her check up. A few years back shortly after her annual checkup I was out for a ride and my crank broke! I brought her in and just had to pay to parts, they did not charge labor because she had just been in. I have never had a bad experience with them. I have been up to the Bicycle Village in Aurora and Boulder, they are ok.

My new bike skirt from Skirt Sports will arrive today and I am so excited to take it out of a spin this weekend. It occurred to me that I own a ton of skirts from verity of companies. So, I figure over the next few weeks I will post my opinion of them, the good the bad and the possibly ugly!

HELP! The tri bug is after me!!!!

I don’t know why, but the race bug has been chewing on me all day. Last year I did not participate in a single triathlon, which is very unlike me. This year I have 4 on the books. The first one for the season is Tri for the Cure (Sprint distance – 500m swim, 12 mile bike, 5k run) and I found out last week that the Weight Watchers leader will be doing that tri too, this will be her very first tri (so excited for her!). Then I have a weekend of races, Rattlesnake Crazy Back to Back – I will do an Olympic (1500m swim, 40k bike, 10k run) on Saturday and a sprint on Sunday. My last one the Harvest Moon Long Course, which will be my second half ironman (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run).

The last time I toed the line for the Rattlesnake I was doing the Olympic Distance and my sister was doing to the Sprint Distance. Well, things didn’t quite work out! At the time I did not have a wet suite, no big deal, but that day it was so cold. I was grateful when I got I the water! I completed my swim and froze my way to my bike, I was not going to quit! It had been raining the majority of the morning, shoot, for the better part of the day before! Because it was so cold my sister only had one kid with her to cheer me on and my other kid was at the hotel with my parents. On the bike I could have sworn it was haling at times, but I kept going. At that point I was not learned how to use bike shoes so I was in my running shoes and they were soaked! I kept going. As I headed towards the turnaround point people who had just passed me were coming back the other way, I knew I was not that close to the turn around, they started shouting ‘race is cancelled, turn around’. After a few people said that, I turned around right into the wind. I was a country block away from transition area between cars and I hydroplaned, ON MY BIKE! Luckily the cars were paying VERY close attention and man was I grateful not to be clipped to my bike. I finally made it back to the transition area and there were people everywhere. For those of you who are not triathletes or have never been to a triathlon – non racers are not permitted into the transition area. That day everyone was permitted in to help collect stuff before it got washed away. I was so ecstatic to find out that my sister had loaded my stuff into the truck, had it turned on with the heater going full blast. Turns out she was one of the ones out there trying to save everyone’s stuff. The lightening had started so they had no choice but to cancel the race. The race director was very apologetic about not being able to return money but he did offer everyone some goodies. My sister ended up not doing the sprint the next day because it was still way to cold. It took me a few hours to warm back up. Anyway, hopefully the weather will behave a little better this year for the race weekend!

I am really excited about my tri schedule this year. I have done Tri for the Cure and there is this stupid hill that I thought I would not make it up the first time I did it, once you get up it there is an amazing view. The second time I got up it with little to no troubles and when I made it to the top I slowed down so I could enjoy the views! Harvest Moon is in the same location as the Rattlesnake Tri, I know the area pretty well. The course looks relatively flat and it will be nice to have another half ironman under my belt. All this excitement doesn’t start until August and will be over in September. As I look at my races all I can see is CDA next year. As each day ticks down the more focused I seem to get and I still have well over a year to go!

This Sunday, assuming the weather is good I plan on taking Baby out for her first ride in over a year. I have new shoes that I need to make sure are up to par so I will spend some time riding around the Air Force Academy, an out and back along the main road is 11 miles – good starting point!

Here is to the tri bug!

Finals week is almost over!

As I keep posting and whining about, this is finals week, oh and parent/teacher conferences! I will be the first to admit my eating since about Friday has been anything but good. I made it to the gym yesterday (not the gymlet, the real live actual gym) and managed to get a VERY enjoyable 4 mile run in before the conferences. Then it was off to Jose’s conference and even though he has a low GPA it is a lot higher than it was last quarter and things are seriously going in the right direction, finally! Then it was off to Weight Watchers, I wasn’t expecting much but I was hoping for no more than a tiny gain. I got on the scale and TA DA! A 1.2 pound loss which meant I got my 5 pound sticker!!!!! J Since I have returned to Weight Watchers I have lost more than 5 pounds. I still have quite a ways to go, but I am very proud of my 5 pounds, it is a very big deal! Right after Weight Watchers was Cuervo’s meeting. Poor little guy had to do a PowerPoint presentation and he was so nervous. I stopped him a few times to remind him to breath! I made sure I took off my tech writing hat and putting on my mommy hat (otherwise I would have tried to proof read his presentation and he would NOT want that!). His grades did slip in a few areas, but this quarter he has had to deal with some stressful situations but all in all he got good grades, more importantly he is learning to deal with issues that are out of his control.

Tonight is my final presentation. Hopefully the computer will stop crashing long enough for me to finish the last few things for it. The damn thing is driving me nuts! This weekend I have a few things to finish up and then I am done for two weeks. I realize there is a light at the end of this tunnel, but I have a hard time seeing it at times.

Mismatched shoes, no towel...

For the most part over the past week I had been really good on the training and eating front. I was pretty excited to go to my Weight Watcher’s meeting last night. Once again, I had a 2.4 pound loss goal set when I walked in.

Wednesday started off kind of sluggish. I knew I was not going to be able to get my workout in until after work, but that meant I would have close to two hours of swimming if I wanted! On the books was 45 – 60 minutes of cross training. Well, my running stuff was in the laundry (to include my workout bras) so getting on the bike was out the window and quite frankly a nice swim sounded so good! So, the pool it was!

Rest

I have to say when it comes to workouts this week, things have been a little backwards. Monday was wear mismatched shoes and yesterday was go swimming without a towel! And, no, not having a towel did not stop me! To make matters even more entertaining the guy in the lane next to me, I guess, decided I needed tri swimming practice and hit me every time we swam by me. If it were the guy in the same lane as me, I could understand but not the a$$ hole in the lane next to me! I love Tyr swimsuits, but their goggle suck! Mine kept leaking. But hey, I did a mile in 40 minutes even with all those issues, so I am not to unhappy (that was the first mile I have swam in a while).

After my swim had fun getting dressed while soaking wet, I pulled on some running pants and a t-shirt and headed over to Weight Watchers. I made sure I got the lead (she is so sweet) and found out that she, too, will be doing Tri for the Cure this summer. It is her first triathlon, I am so excited for her! Oh, yea, my weight. Well, I didn’t lose the 2.4 I had hoped for but I did lose 1.4 so I am happy!

Because of the 5K on Saturday I need to move some sessions around. I figured today’s 4-miler will be the 5K (I am sure I can get in an extra .9 on Saturday!), so today I think I will hit the weights (so Friday’s session moves to today). The 6-miler will either need to be tomorrow after work OR on Sunday. Either way I will be able to hit the trails, which is always nice!

YAY! Another outside run!

Today has become a two (well, three if you count the ABCs) kind of day.

As I was walking around earlier I remembered that tonight I have class (I already knew that) and that on Tuesday I had decided I would go to Wooglin's Deli & Café to pick up dinner. This is a big deal because this place is awesome to two reasons. #1 – it is two or three doors down from my favorite running store (I need to pick up some more running socks!). #2 – they have a huge selection of non-meat stuff to include chili. My entire household loves it when I bring them food from this place, but tonight they won’t be so lucky! It’s mine, all mine! Besides the fact that this place has great food, it has college kid prices (might have something to do with the fact it is less than a block away from one of the local colleges). I had been in there to meet someone way back when, but I hadn’t really tried them until I wanted a hot chocolate and the coffee shop a door or two up informed me that all they had was coffee (they is just stupid!). I brought my boys in to the deli and not only did I get a pretty good hot chocolate (sorry, Ghirardelli’s was better, but what do you expect?) but I had dinner for everyone and whenever I am in that part of town (and others know) I get a nice list of what I need to pick up!

Another thing I started thinking about was my weight. Yes, I want my number to go down, but I had to take notice of non-scale related steps too. Yesterday my two primary pairs of work pants were stuck in the laundry, since I can’t wear jeans to work and I really don’t like wearing skirts to work (but yet I will wear them to run) I grabbed a pair of pants that I didn’t think would fit because they are significantly smaller than my usual pants. I pulled them up, hey! They made it over my butt! Buttoned them up and then zip! They were on and done up!!!! YAY! Can I sit down in them? Yup! They were a little snug around the midsection, but not in a horrible way, I wore a long shirt to cover the nice muffin top I had going on, but I was able to put them on, do them up and not be horribly uncomfortable all day long! It is accomplishments like this that I need to keep in mind too.

A few days ago EMZ had posted something about King’s cakes, I was so excited when I walked into the break room at work to toast my Vita Top muffin and low and behold there was a huge VERY colorful pastry thing. My first response was ‘What the hell is that?’ the two guys standing there said it is a King’s Cake! As one of them was chewing on it I told him to watch out for the baby! He didn’t even realize there was a baby in there (no, the baby was not in the piece he had). I thought it was so cool I actually saw in real life what EMZ was talking about! I did break down and try a piece, yea, not my cup of tea! Too much sugar and it had a lemon taste to it (I am not a fan of citrus flavors unless I am actually eating the fruit or drinking the juice).

As far as my run goes, I am overly excited to report that I will not have to hit the dreadmill, I actually will be able to my lunch break at the end of the day (to much going on to take a normal lunch break) so I will be able to hit the trails, again! Since I am going to Wooglin’s I will get on the trail near there (great part is, it is the longest run this week and the flattest!). It is kind of nice hitting the trail three days this week and not seeing the same scenery. One thing that was talked about at Weight Watchers last night was shaking things up. Well, I am shaking things up!

Tomorrow is a cross training day, I am not sure if I want to hit the stationary bike (which I really should) and/or hit the pool. I might bring my kiddos to the pool and let them play after they swim their laps. I know, I am a mean mommy, I make my kids swim laps totaling their age. My dad did that to me and my sister, I think it is just fine for my boys to do, as well! If they swim double their age, they get a Starbucks or an ice cream! Saturday is the group run and my schedule has 5 miles. The weather looks pretty good for Saturday… “Mostly sunny. Highs 44 to 51. West winds up to 10 mph becoming south in the afternoon.” (www.wundergroud.com)

Sore

My weigh in last night didn’t quiet go as well as planned, I put on .2 pounds. At first I was a little let down but then I started thinking. I had been weighing in first thing in the morning; no food, no water, no nothing for 8+ hours prior to being weighed in. Yesterday I ate my normal breakfast, lunch and snacks. I went for a run, I consumed a significant amount of water. So a .2 pound gain? I can live with that. Next week, however will be different!

With that said and done I woke up this morning and my upper body was sore! I laid in bed smiling. Ok, so I have planned on hitting the bike during lunch but I didn’t feel like it. So I did some good upper body weights. I felt great! After work, I made it for my run. Styling my new Preppy Pink Running Capri from Runningskirts.com I selected a point on my favorite trail and headed north and then came back. I realized I wasn’t pushing as much as I could, but I felt good. I was a little slower than I was on Monday (I think I was tired at first), but I was out there and enjoying everything.

Today is a 3.5 – 4 mile run; sadly I have class tonight so I have to hit the treadmill for this run during lunch. I guess I can’t get all my miles outside.

When Irish Eyes are Smilin’

Have you noticed how in a lot of cases St. Patrick’s Day is no longer a day, but more of a month? I am not saying there is anything wrong with that, I just think it is entertaining! After much research I have found out that I am, in fact, half Irish/half Scottish. Ok, to be really and truly accurate I am I am half Australian/half American (my ‘mum’ is an Aussie and my dad is an American). My sister and I have actually gotten very interested in where our ancestors came from on our dad’s side we were able to track back to exactly when that side came to the US from Ireland (it was the late 1800s). Our mom’s side, well, that took a little more work but first we did not come from criminals (I was a little disappointed in that one) but that side took a more roundabout way of getting here! What does this have to do with anything? Nothing, really besides the fact I find that type of stuff interesting!

Last night by the time I was leaving class I was going cross eyed so I went home to check on poor Freddie instead of going to the gym. Poor Freddie is fine, he is acting as if nothing had happened! Today I have another Monday workout. Since I didn’t get my miles in yesterday I will be getting my ride in during lunch (still on the stationary bike, to much sand on the roads still) and then I will head north for my run. Yes, I could leave work and run my miles around the office (or even on the treadmill) or I could hit the Santa Fe Trail and not just put in miles, but actually really and truly enjoy my run! That’s a hard decision, isn’t it!!!!

Tonight is also Weight Watchers night, yay! I am going for 2.4 pounds! Here is to a wonderful day!

A few more days of weekend, please!

And it is Monday again! Sadly this weekend went by a lot fast than usual, but wha cha gonna do?

Saturday I had my first workout with Boulder Running Company Women’s Fit Team. Ok, the waking up at 6:30 on a Saturday was not fun, but I was excited to get down there and start! It was blowing like mad, but otherwise it was wonderful running weather. On the agenda for intermediate runners was 4 miles, so that is what I had planned. I had my new watch ready to take on its maiden run, I was excited! I got down there, signed in, the coach went over some information, we stretched and off we went! I hit play on my iPod and start on my watch. I took it a lot easier than I needed to, but I didn’t want to kill myself the first time I was out running. I ran a song, walked a song or two, ran a song… enjoyed the scenery. It was a very enjoyable run. My goal was to finish in under an hour (told you I was taking it slow) and I did that with no issues. I do need to fix my running play list. For some reason it has a run song, two or three walk songs, and then another walk song. Right now I want to work on run a song, walk a song. Once I have no issues with that again, I got up to two run, one walk, then three run and one walk, then run (up to five miles) non-stop. But right now, it is baby steps! Sadly, I had to go home, get cleaned up and then go into work (I am normally a Monday – Friday type of gal).

Sunday all I did was shopping, but trust me, that was a workout in itself!

So, this week’s schedule looks nice and calm with a 3 miler today and tomorrow, a 3.5 – 4 miler on Thursday and a 5-miler on Saturday. Cross training days on Wednesday and Friday. That is just what is on the schedule. Now, I do have my century ride, so I will need to get in some extra workouts in. Today for example I am thinking bike during lunch and 3-miler RIGHT after work. Might hit the trail on the Air Force Academy or might go a little further north. We will see where my car takes me! Oh! And weigh ins have moved back to Wednesday nights.

OH! Can you believe I almost forgot… My new toy! Saturday I had my new Forerunner with me. First thing I noticed was it didn’t have all the fields I wanted, easy fix. I turned my alarm noise off, but I kept vibrate on. It was easy to ready, it was easy to use, I think I can say I am in love! I am looking forward to putting on a LOT of miles with my new friend! As far as the HR monitor goes, I didn’t even notice it was there!

Buyer’s remorse without even buying anything!

So I was at the store last night checking out the bikes and I got information on the two bikes I am considering and they both have their benefits (one has a squishier seat while the other has better aero bars, one has shows RPMs while the other shows MPH, etc.). I woke up this morning with buyer’s remorse and I haven’t even bought the damn thing yet! The way I see it is I have a bike, I have a trainer, the reason I really don’t use it is because my sister says it is really loud! Instead of getting a spin bike, we are going to get a pad to see if that will muffle the sound and if that doesn’t work, then we will see about making the investment. Another thing we are planning on doing is ripping out all the carpet and putting hard wood floors in, not sure that will muffle the sound any, but it is time to change the flooring!

Today is a forced day off, I had mommy duties to do this morning so there went my lunch time workout and then I have class tonight which means I can’t do it after work. All of this is fine, tomorrow should be a two workout day, one during lunch and one again after work (hitting the pool after work!). Saturday is the run group, I don’t know what the plan is other than dressing warm. Sunday (not supposed to be great weather) there is a spin class at the gym followed by a yoga class, might see if I can get into the spin class and then recover with the yoga class, if not, who knows!

While on my mommy duties this moring the lady at the front office asked if I was still doing Weight Watchers, I told her I was but I am going to a different meeting (we had seen each other at the Wednesday meeting, but lately I have been hitting up the Saturday meeting). I told her I will be running with a local run group on Saturdays so I will be coming back to the Wednesday meetings, I like the leader in that meeting better anyway!

One more day until Friday!

Honey Nut Cheerios and a banana

Don’t ask me what the title of this blog has to do with anything other than it is my breakfast this morning. Actually, lately all I have been wanting for breakfast is cereal! Usually I have egg whites and stuff, but right now I want my cereal! Yesterday I was sitting at my desk with my cheerios in a styrofoam coffee cup and a coworker asked where the banana was. So, now I have to have a banana with my cereal! Ok, so I am rambling, it is good for the health, you know!

On the training front I since Thursday, I made it to the pool once and to a spinning class. Friday night I managed to get about 30 minutes in before the water aerobics class came in and took over the pool. It felt amazing to be back in the water! Nothing was hurting, everything just felt like it let out a great sigh of relief when I hit the water. I am considering getting custom made ear plugs. Year ago, I was screwing around on the diving board and when I jump in I managed to rupture my ear drum/channel (can’t remember) and my sister and I thought it was so cool that I could blow bubbles out of my ear! I have been able to get by using the $5 ear plugs you can get at any sports store (yes, I wear them even during triathlons!), but they haven’t seem to be working so well lately. It is something to think about! As far as spinning goes, I was debating whether or not I should get up and go; I got up! I got in and this teacher is a trip! She is not the annoying perky bouncy type, but she was a lot of fun! I was dripping after the class (yea, I know ewwwww). We did “rolling hills” all at “our cadence” and some sprints that were within 5 – 10 RMPs of our cadence and then within 1-2 (she didn’t want us to kill ourselves quite yet!). Good class! Then it was off to Weight Watchers, I am down another .6 pounds YAY! But I didn’t stay for the meeting, I had more important things to attend to! Namely making my sister want to kill me. It was her birthday on Saturday so I stopped by King Soopers (grocery store) and I had planned on only getting her four balloons. I picked out the balloons I wanted (Betty Boop from me, Winnie the Pooh and Tigger “It’s a girl” from the puppies, a cupcake one from the boys and a noise one just for good measure). I went up to the counter to had them filled and the lady asked if I wanted any latex balloons, then this idea popped into my head! Yes! By the time I walked out I had one balloon for every year she is old! It was a good thing I had my SUV with me, there is NO way those balloons would have fit into my car! I also picked up a cupcake (vanilla, so she could give it to the dogs). Needless to say, when she saw the balloons she was going to kill me, but I also gave her the watch she has been drooling over for a while now so I lived to tell about the balloon trick I played on her! Saturday night I really blew any calorie level I could have possibly imagined! My sister and I took a friend to the Melting Pot (love their fondue!) we all had a great time!

This upcoming Saturday, I start running with a local training group, which mean no more Saturday morning spinning class, but in a way that is ok, because I plan on getting a spin bike within the next week or so. This group also means I am looking into signing up for another race; it would be a 10-miler in Garden of the Gods! (I will be updating my "Upcoming Races" section if you want to check out what I plan on getting up to this year!)

OH! And most importantly, my new bike jersey should be in today!!!!!

Not doing to well

Something is not right, I don’t feel right. My energy level has tanked and my muscles twitches are back and blah, blah, blah. I am hoping I am not going into another flare up, I can’t handle that right now. I took yesterday completely off I didn’t hit play, I didn’t hit the gymlet I did nothing. I am still so tired I can barely keep my eyes opened. I would like to get into the pool for a little while even if I am just kind of floating in the deep end, maybe that will make me feel better, who knows! I have signed up for the spinning class for tomorrow, if I make it, great! If not, such is life. Last flare up I tried to push through it and only made it worse.

Tomorrow is my weigh in, I will be happy to see another pound gone. My eating hasn’t been to bad, but it hasn’t been great either. Last night for dinner I had chips and salsa, that is all that I wanted!

On an entertaining note, I ordered my bike jersey for the century ride, I can’t wait until it comes in. I saw it months ago and figured it was a must get. Well, today I was looking around and saw they only had one size left (luckily nice and big) so I figured I had better order it before its to late… Yes, it is a Sam I am jersey, what else did you expect?

Day 7 - Taking a day off

Here we are ¾ of the way through the weekend and I have to say I am not doing so well on my 30 day challenge. I didn’t not hit play on Friday, instead I was outside trying to shovel water away from my driveway. There was just the right mixture of snow, ice and water that I could see having some major issues Saturday morning. Saturday I didn’t hit play either but I did make it to spinning and let me tell you I was so happy to be there. It was great to be on a spin bike again (I can’t wait until I am on MY bike again). Today, well, I am just tried so I am taking a day off from workouts. My water intake has also slipped over the weekend. I am excited to report that I did go down 6.6 pounds at my Weight Watchers weigh in yesterday. I was wishful thinking a 7 pound loss, so when I was the 6.6 loss I started doing the happy dance!

I picked up my bike from the shop on Saturday, hopefully the warm weather we are having will make it possible to hit the roads sooner rather than later. Either way, she is home and ready to go!

Tomorrow morning is back to waking up and getting my 30 minutes in. Tomorrow is also a stationary bike day, I think it will be hills.

Well, tomorrow is back to work, even though I could use about another three days of sleep!

OH! I signed up for the Denver Marathon today. I think that means all my races for the year are now paid for.

Day 5 - Ready for the weekend

Here we are, it is finally Friday! I decided I would sleep in this morning and hit play tonight. I did get down to the gymlet for a nice 30 minutes of 2 minutes running/2 minutes walking. I didn’t make it yesterday before class, so I figured I would get it in today!

My boys, my sister and I went to HuHot the other night and my sister was about to take Cuervo out (he had reached his limit of people and noise) but she had to stop because of a song that was playing. I could barely hear it because of the surrounding noise (my hearing isn’t great in crowded areas due to being in the military). She sent me the info and I have to say, I can see why she didn’t want to leave before the song was over. The song is great and the video is really well done.

Anyway, tomorrow is weigh in day, ok, I would like to be down 7 pounds (just because of the 5 pound gain from last week) but I will be happy with any weight loss!

It is now Day 4 and I am off and running!

Last night was another one of those nights I was to tired to cook, my sister was still not feeling well, we decided we would go to Applebee’s (kid’s eat for 99 cents on Wednesdays), when we got there the parking lot was full! So we figured we had better go elsewhere. Up the street a smidge (in the same block) was a new place we have wanted to try HuHot. The smell of it when driving by YUM! We got there and found out it is an all you can eat Mongolian BBQ. Still smelled good! You get to pick out everything you want and then they cook it up for you while you wait, easy enough. When I got up to the grill I asked it would be possible for my food not to touch any meat, “vegetarian?” ‘yes’ (I wasn’t going to go into the whole fisheterian thing). The cleaned a spot for my food, put utensils around it to make sure nothing could touch it and announced when my food was going on and coming off. After speaking to our waitress (very nice lady) she said they have no problems working people and their dietary restrictions. I have every intention of going back again. I only went through once, but my older son got four plates!

This morning I did not want to get up! Freddie kept me up all night chewing of stuff and getting into stuff he shouldn’t be. When I actually cracked an eye opened I saw my jeans that are two sizes smaller than what I am in now hanging on my door. Grumbling I got up. This video is kicking my butt, well, actually it is kicking my calves and thighs (I was going down the stairs as I was leaving work yesterday, talk about sore!). First set of jumping jacks I had to stop before it was time because of a twinge in my knee, but rest of them I was able to do. I got interrupted midway through the workout because two puppies and one child all tried to go down the stairs at the same time. Puppies were fine, kid was not! After making sure everything was ok and giving him a reassuring hug I started the “butt kicks” section again and continued on. I finished up got cleaned up, Cuervo is fine, he and the stairs have just had a few to many issues this week (he feel down and hit his knee on Monday). I think part of it is because his mind is elsewhere. I know he will kill me if he found out I posted this but he and his girlfriend are planning to have their first kiss today (isn’t young love cute!). He has asked if we can get her a Valentine’s Day present when we go shopping this weekend (he is in 4th grade and is already thinking about all that).

I am hoping to get a short run in today (Jose has an appointment, I have class, not much time, but I will try!), tomorrow is the pool with the kids (we all swim laps and then it is play time, good way to end the week). Saturday I am signed up for a spinning class and then I have WW weigh in. This morning I couldn’t help myself, I had to get on the scale, I needed to see if all this work is doing anything for my numbers. I was in my work clothes (my heaviest work pants) and my boots on I was down 2+ pounds since last Saturday’s weigh in! I have a feeling I will have no issue getting my rump out of bed tomorrow morning!

OH! And the countdown to CDA is under 500 days now! I know I am only guessing at the date at this time, but it is still exciting!
