"Don't let the fat chick beat you"?

I have been racing for about 5 years now. I am not a typical runner or even triathlete. I fight with serious medical conditions every step of the way, but each step makes me stronger. I have two boys both with special needs and I have learned to chalk that up to making me stronger as well.

It is with sad heart that I must report that lupus has won the battle this year, but trust me when I say the war is far from over! My racing days are not over by any stretch of the imagination. This is just a minor setback that will make me stronger.

Day 3

Today is Carin’s third day visiting the doggy hospital. She was diagnosed with chronic renal failure over a year ago and her latest blood test was REALLY bad. Her numbers have more than tripled over the last 7 months. The doc wanted her to come in for IV fluid treatment, which we started on Friday. She went in again on Saturday and then this morning. They will be retesting her blood this afternoon and I am hoping upon all hopes that they see improvement.

The weather over the weekend has not helped her condition. She has not wanted to eat (and neither has Charlie) I am guessing because it is just plain straight out to hot. She is trying to drink every chance she gets, but I don’t think it is enough. She hasn’t wanted to really move, she will lay in one spot (causing pain to her hindquarters) but she gets excited when people walk by her. Her spirit is fine; her body isn’t doing great right now. But the past three days of doggy hospital will fix all that and she will come home and be fine!

  1. She's going to be fine. Faith not fear!

Jersey's going in tomorrow afternoon for her second treatment. Hopefully things have changed since the last one.
